Control Systems & Software Engineers

We require experienced, practical Control Systems & Software Engineers to join our expanding marine and offshore renewables systems engineering department. The successful candidates are likely to have designed marine and offshore/subsea equipment (or have an ambition to do so) and carried out extensive hands-on commissioning of systems including handover to Client. 

You will be responsible for leading projects and taking designs from concept to reality, and will be familiar with producing specifications, designs and calculations from scratch including PLC and SCADA software design for control of power generation & distribution systems, variable speed drive systems and control, monitoring and datalogging systems. 

The role will include, but not be limited to the following activities: 

  • Preparing project documentation including basis of design, detailed functional design specification, FAT, SIT and SAT procedures. 
  • Creating design concepts and producing detailed designs from them including (but not limited to) full lifecycle software design, I/O lists, alarms lists, design reports, cause & effect matrices & FMECA. 
  • Liaising with Purchasing for equipment procurement, preparing RFQs and technical procurement specifications. 
  • Liaising with Production, resolving design documentation issues and assisting with creation of as built documentation. 
  • Start up, commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and where necessary site commissioning, site integration and site acceptance testing. 
  • Production of final project close out documentation package including drawing updates, O&M manuals, spare parts lists. 
  • After sales service support. 
  • With the international nature of our work, you will be expected to travel for short durations both in the UK and worldwide to support commissioning, site integration, site acceptance and after sales service activities. 

Qualification requirements: 

Degree qualified in Marine / Instrumentation & Controls Engineering / Electrical related discipline. 

 

Electrical Design Engineers

We require experienced and energetic Electrical Design Engineers to join our expanding marine and offshore renewables systems engineering department. The successful candidates are likely to have designed marine and offshore/subsea equipment and carried out extensive hands on commissioning.

Degree qualified, proficient with E-Plan, 3D modelling and simulation platforms you will be responsible for taking designs from concept to reality, and will be familiar with producing specifications, designs and calculations from scratch encompassing PLC/SCADA, power generation & distribution and variable speed drive systems. Control and automation software experience would also be a distinct advantage.

The role will include, but not be limited to the following activities:

  • Preparing project documentation including basis of design, detailed functional design specification, FAT, SIT and SAT procedures.
  • Creating design concepts and producing detailed design documentation from them including (but not limited to) electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, cabinet and panel layout drawings, I/O lists, 3D models, bills of materials, alarms lists, design reports, cause & effect matrices, FMECA.
  • Liaising with Purchasing for equipment procurement, preparing RFQs and technical procurement specifications.
  • Liaising with Production, resolving design documentation issues and creating as built drawings.
  • Start up, commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and where necessary site commissioning site integration and acceptance testing.
  • Production of final project close out documentation package including drawing updates, O&M manuals, spare parts lists.

Marine Electrical Field Service Engineers

We require experienced Marine Electrical Field Service Engineers to join our expanding marine and offshore services team. The successful candidates are likely to have sailed on ships in an ETO capacity, will preferably be degree educated (or equivalent) and have a wide range of experience including fault finding, servicing, repair, retrofit, and commissioning of all shipboard electrical, automation and navigation systems.

The role will include, but not be limited to the following activities:

 

  • Fault finding, repair (to component level), servicing and testing of all types of main and auxiliary equipment, from engine room to bridge: ranging from high power generation, distribution, switchgear and propulsion – to instrumentation, automation and navigation equipment
  • Procurement of spare parts and service work planning and scheduling
  • Planned maintenance, overhaul, upgrades and retrofits
  • Commissioning and setting to work of new and upgraded systems
  • Modifications to existing installations
  • Close collaboration with our electrical and control systems design department to plan, design and deliver both new and retrofit solutions in marine propulsion and auxiliary plant, offshore production systems and offshore construction mission equipment
  • Training and mentoring of other personnel

Variable Speed Drive Field Service Engineer

We require experienced variable speed drive field service engineers to join our expanding marine and offshore service team. The successful candidates will have a wide range of experience including commissioning, servicing, repair and retrofit of marine LV and MV Drives from manufacturers such as ABB, Siemens, Danfoss (Vacon), GE (Converteam) and ideally be manufacturer trained.

The role will include, but not be limited to the following activities:

 

  • Fault finding, repair (to component level) and reactivation of all types of LV and MV drives and their ancillary equipment, both air and liquid cooled
  • Procurement of spares and service work planning and scheduling
  • Planned maintenance, overhaul, upgrades and retrofits
  • Commissioning and setting to work of new and upgraded drive system installations
  • Modifications to existing installations
  • Close collaboration with our electrical and control systems design department to plan, design and deliver both new and retrofit solutions in marine propulsion and auxiliary plant, offshore production systems and offshore construction mission equipment
  • Training and mentoring of other personnel

Electricians

We require experienced electricians with general installation of electrical equipment.

The role will include, but not be limited to the following activities:

 

  • Cable management systems, cable installation/ termination
  • Panel builds & Switchgear
  • Fault finding, testing and commissioning.

You will also be expected to carry out general workshop duties and observe strict standards of housekeeping.

This role includes travelling away from home and overnight stays.

Qualifications:

Time served Apprenticeship, City & Guilds Level 3

Electrical Supervisor

We require experienced electrical supervisors or electricians with experience in supervisory roles.

The role will include, but not be limited to the following activities:

 

  • Supervision of all personnel working in the Company workshop and on Client sites/vessels, including Company employees, Contract & Subcontracted personnel.
  • Maintaining safe working practices and ensuring all employees, contractors and visitors are operating within the company’s Health & Safety policy rules.
  • Final testing of equipment, updating basic drawings in Autocad and EPlan, ordering materials, assisting with onsite surveys and costings for quotes.
  • Producing job specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), on site permits and policing POWRA’s.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping standards, ensuring PPE is maintained and used correctly.
  • Verifying Employees and Contractors time sheets

In addition to the relevant technical qualifications and experience, the successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be aware of budget requirements and HSQE requirements.

This role includes travelling away from home and overnight stays.

Qualifications:

Time served apprenticeship City & Guilds Level 3 BTEC, ONC or HNC

All positions advertised require that the successful candidates must be prepared to travel internationally at short notice, be prepared to sail with vessels and work offshore and be able to work flexibly and unsupervised. Note that for offshore working we will provide BOSIET training as required.

The roles will be customer facing and you will act as an ambassador of the company, therefore we are looking for a motivated person that can form strong and long-lasting customer relationships.
